ATC Classic Series Range Introduction

The ATC Classic Series is the backbone of ATC’s home hi-fi loudspeaker lineup: timeless cabinets, reference engineering, and performance that scales from serious domestic listening rooms to studio-grade expectations. On ATC’s own Classic Series listing, the range consists of four models: SCM20, SCM50, SCM100 and SCM150.

At Authentic High End (Brussels), we position the Classic Series as the place where ATC’s values become unmistakable: accuracy, dynamic headroom, and long-term musical truth — not “hi-fi effects”.

What Defines the Classic Series

Passive and Active versions

ATC offers Classic Series models in passive and active forms (model-dependent), so you can choose either:

• Passive: pair with your preferred external amplification

• Active: ATC’s amplification and crossover approach integrated into the loudspeaker for a tightly matched system

For example, the SCM20SL Classic is explicitly listed as available in PASSIVE and ACTIVE versions.

Sealed-box precision (where applicable)

ATC highlights the SCM20SL Classic as a sealed cabinet design, chosen for precise timing and controlled low-frequency performance for the size.

Built and engineered in the UK

ATC emphasises that its drive units are designed and manufactured by ATC in the UK (explicitly stated on the SCM20SL Classic page).

ATC SCM20 Classic

ATC describes the SCM20 Classic as its flagship 2-way stand-mount loudspeaker, ideal for “modestly sized rooms where performance cannot be compromised.”

• SCM20ASL (Active) — with on-board amplification (“Amp Pack”) and active crossover approach

• SCM20PSL (Passive) — passive version with hand-made crossover network

How to Choose Within the Classic Series

• SCM20SL Classic: reference stand-mount performance for smaller to medium rooms (ATC explicitly positions it for modestly sized rooms).

• SCM50 / SCM100 / SCM150: progressively more scale, output capability and low-frequency authority as you move up the range (model families shown in Classic Series list).
